Oi, John. E a ópera H aqui no Brasil? Tem alguma notícia? Vc virá ao país?

Ciao Lùcio! About "Hemingway, the Opera" and Brazil, unfortunately, I have no idea what's going on, really:-(

Maybe if you ask Gerald or Caetano Vilela, they might be able to tell you something. They were the ones who were running the "show" and who had all the contacts with SESC.

Um abraço,
John

Hi, John.

Let´s encounter on the first day of the Opera.

Bye, Lúcio Jr.

Interesting. I have to say, though, that Gerald has a talent for being "vague", much like his hero, Obama;-)

He didn't happen to say WHO the director would be, or if SESC has finally given him the money for this project?

As we say in English, "talk is cheap"...

abs.

Hi, John, it was at Caetano´s blog:

Ampliando minha ‘conexão internacional’ trabalharei novamente com Gerald que dirigirá uma ópera baseada na vida dos Hemingway’s, trata-se de uma adaptação do livro de memórias “Strange Tribe” escrito por John Hemingway, o neto, e que ainda estamos no tratamento do libreto e concepção musical. Os contatos para Salzburg, Amsterdã e workshops de todo o processo no Brasil já estão mais do que agendados.
Aguardem, este projeto é realmente muito especial!

Hi, John.

I guess you should take it as a pratical experience of "the death of the autor" :-)

Do you know when Gerald will travel to Brazil?

John, I am looking forward to meeting you and hearing about your book when you are in Columbus. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am interested in all facets of the human mind. As an openly gay man, I'm curious about the issues of sexuality and orientation your family has had to deal with. And as a reader with an interest in the human condition, I look forward to looking you in the eye, shaking your hand, and smiling at you, making a human connection with another interesting man. All my best...

Ciao Lùcio,

"Death of the author"?;-)

Gerald? Who knows, I haven't heard from him in a while. Maybe he's holing up in that hotel on Miami Beach, the one that his girlfriend takes him to, cursing all the immigrants and the Spanish spoken in my home town?;-)

Um abraço,
John

John, It's Amy who attended your talk and dined at The Rossi with you. I read your memoir this week and was deeply moved by it. I'd like to read it again before making any "intellectual" comment. (But, then again, perhaps you don't want that.) At the most basic heart level, it was deeply moving. Parts of it bore striking resemblance to some patterns in my family. Hope to see you again.

Ciao Amy:-) Good to hear from you again! I had a great time at OSU and I can never thank Debra enough for that.

I'm glad you liked my book so much and that there were similarities between our families that you could relate to. I guess that's what it's all about with writing, communicating, no?

perhaps we'll meet again in Montreal?:-0

Un abraccio,
John
